Valoo has been measured as Finland’s Fastest* Internet, and it’s no coincidence. Internet is ever developing, but one thing is certain: speed matters.
Read moreOokla®, a global leader in connectivity intelligence, has awarded Valoo the title of Finland’s Fastest Internet. The goal of the Speedtest Awards™ is to determine the best network speeds attained across a given network, regardless of the performance tier for which an individual is paying.
The evaluation includes tests that are taken on various Speedtest applications that connect to a fixed network. In addition to tests taken on Speedtest.net, tests are also included from the Speedtest desktop applications and those taken on mobile phones via the Speedtest mobile applications, but over a WiFi connection.
880.06Mbit/s
Comparison’s top 10 % speed.
Download speed measures the rate at which data can be downloaded to a device.
854.71Mbit/s
Comparison’s top 10 % speed.
Upload speed measures the rate at which data can be sent to the network.
5ms
Latency measures how long it takes for a data packet to travel between the network and the device.
Ookla’s data is based on over three million Speedtest measurements conducted by real users, making it a true reflection of the actual speeds of used internet connections.
Valoo’s download speed is significantly higher than other operators. Download speed measures how fast data and files can be downloaded to a computer, mobile device, or even a gaming console. Download speed is measured in Mbps (megabits per second).
Upload speed measures how fast data and files can be sent to the network. It is also measured in Mbps (megabits per second). Upload speed is crucial for activities such as video calls, online gaming, and file transfers.
Latency measures how long it takes for a data packet to travel, and it is measured in milliseconds (ms). As a rule of thumb, the lower the latency and the faster the connection, the better the data transfer quality and user experience. A latency below 20 ms is considered excellent.
To determine the fastest operator, Ookla uses their Speed Score that incorporates a measure of each provider’s download and upload speed to rank network speed performance. Because the vast majority of data transfer over broadband and mobile internet involves downloading, 80% of the final Speed Score is attributed to download speed and the remaining 20% to upload speed.
Ookla places the most emphasis on the median as that is what most network providers’ customers will experience on a day to day basis.
This result and award show that we have been doing the right things from the start. We have focused on fiber and the internet connections provided through fiber. We do this with the best partners, the best technologies, and the best employees. Nothing distracts our focus, so the results speak for themselves. But ultimately, the award is secondary, as the most important thing is that our customers receive the best and fastest internet connections in Finland from us.
